Selena Gomez is sharing her first social media post in three months, after being hospitalized twice in September 2018.

“It’s been awhile since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support,” the singer wrote under a series of photos.

According to TMZ, Gomez was hospitalized after it was discovered her white blood cell count was dangerously low due to her 2017 kidney transplant. After Gomez’s condition failed to improve, she returned to the hospital, where she reportedly "freaked out" after learning about her condition and attempted to rip an IV out of her arm during what sources called an “emotional breakdown.”

Gomez was taken to rehab on the east coast, where she received dialectical behavior therapy before being checked out in November. Since her release, the singer laid low and stayed off social media until now. “It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming,” she wrote. “Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead.”

Gomez previously opened up about dialectical behavior therapy in a 2017 interview withVogue.

"DBT has completely changed my life," she told the magazine. "I wish more people would talk about therapy. We girls, we're taught to be almost too resilient, to be strong and sexy and cool and laid-back, the girl who's down. We also need to feel allowed to fall apart."
