“I want to go big,” Taron Egerton says as the title character of the upcoming film Robin Hood. During a time of political and social strife, an update on the age-old tale of taking from the rich and giving to the poor feels as relevant as ever.

Directed by Otto Bathurst, the film brings together a dynamic cast including Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin and Jamie Dornan. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bathurst explained why the classic fable is still very applicable.

“Wherever you’ve got corruption, or people being abused, or oppression, or any kind of social injustice, you need people who are going to stand up and try and make a difference,” he said. “And that’s what Robin Hood does."
