Grown Ass Adults Are Freaking Out Over This Scene of Pikachu Speaking English

Back in July, the people behind the mega-successful Pokémon series released Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, the twentieth film in the Pokémon series. The film is said to be a "loose" retelling of the Indigo League saga from the television show, marking the 20th anniversary of the series, but there's one HUGE change that had audience wylin' out during the ultra-limited Fathom Events screenings of the film in America in November in NYC.

Now, for those who follow the series, it's known that, for the most part, the various Pokémon in the series don't speak English, or any real language; they just say their name over and over (unless they are Meowth, who is a big asshole of a cat who rolls with Team Rocket). Squirtles walks around like "squirtle squirtle" when they really mean "what's popping, my dude," while Pikachu, the loveable yellow character that's become an icon in the series, chops (but never slops) his name, saying shit like "PIKA! Pika pi, pika-chuuu" to be like "Bruh! Did you see that Bulbasaur over there?!"

Anyways, towards the end of the film, there's one moment where Pikachu apparently... uses human speech?

WHY did this happen? It's hard to say without seeing the film. Various reports say Ash is (spoiler) dying when it happens, so it could be a situation where this is a hallucination (especially since Pikachu is back to doing his usual "Pika-Pi" shit afterwards), but either way, Pokemon heads aren't having it.
