Just a few months ago we found out that director Spike Lee was working on a new movie called Chi-Raq for Amazon Studios with a star-studded cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack. The first trailer just dropped today, and this "musical comedy" looks bonkers (in the best Spike Lee way possible). The film modernizes the Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes, taking the comedy-drama to the streets of Chicago. The film follows a group of women followed by Lysistrata (Teyonah Parris) in an effort to end gang violence in the city's Southside.
Though previous rumors of Kanye West starring in the film have been proven false, there's still this insane cast to look forward to (aside from the aforementioned Jackson, Cusack, and Parris): Wesley Snipes, Nick Cannon, Jennifer Hudson, Dave Chappelle, Angela Bassett, and many more.
Watch the trailer above. The holiday film will get a limited release on Dec. 4. Between this and Quentin Tarantino's Christmas-due The Hateful Eight, we're about to see a whole lot of Samuel L. Jackson during this holiday season.
