Early Friday morning, Garland Tyree posted the following message to his Facebook before initiating a standoff with the New York Police Department in Staten Island:

Tyree, who is wanted for probation violation and possesses 18 previous arrests, is now barricaded inside a Staten Island residence. According to local reports, "flames and gunfire" have erupted at the scene, where officers and related personnel are actively attempting to negotiate with the suspect for a peaceful exit. The suspect reportedly set fire to the home shortly after officers arrived on the scene.

Tyree also reportedly fired a successful shot from inside the home at an FDNY lieutenant, who is currently at a nearby hospital in stable condition.

More to come.
