Baby Boy was Tyrese Gibson's first movie role. In it, he had a sex scene with Taraji P. Henson. Henson told Arsenio Hall in 2014 that before they had started rolling in the sheets, Tyrese "was in the corner basically crying." Gibson immediately confronted Henson on Hall's couch, though, saying "I'm a grown ass man," after calming down, he told the audience, "Baby Boy was my first movie. I didn’t know what the definition of Method Acting was. So, Taraji defined that for me on the set." Well, it looks like Gibson wants to be in Henson's corner again after becoming a "grown ass man."
Writing as his character from Baby Boy, Jody, to Henson's Yvette, Gibson wrote:
I'm not cool with all these dudes feeling all up on Yvette and Its on TV? I heard they call her Cookie now? The homies are telling me I gotta gotta get my bitch back.. Who was feeling her up? Derek Luke as Malcolm. And Luke responded to Tyrese's bark:
Are you Team Jody? Or Team Malcolm? Team Yvette? Or Team Cookie? Maybe Tyrese should just get a guest slot on Empire—and settle this with a character that exists in their world. This ain't 2001, but Henson is still a hot commodity.
