It's been a glorious day for comedy fans. First, Comedy Central released a statement announcing that Hannibal Buress is finally getting his own show on the network. Right on the heels of that great news comes word that Jerrod Carmichael, the scene-stealer in Neighbors and whose first HBO comedy special was directed by Spike Lee, will be leading a semi-autobiographical sitcom on NBC.

The sitcom, titled Go Jerrod Go, was actually developed last pilot season, but NBC decided to temporarily shelf it. The execs finally smartened up and ordered a six-episode first season. The multicam comedy series will center loosely around Carmichael's real life experiences and relationships, including those with his painfully blunt father (played by David Allen Grier), his therapist girlfriend (Amber West) and his bible-thumping mom (Loretta Devine).

This is NBC's first original comedy order for the 2015-2016 season.
