Apparently all you need to host CBS' Late Late Show is a golden ticket. But English actor and comedian James Corden proved he had what it takes in Monday's premier that was favorably received by most critics. Instead of opening with a monolog, he showed a taped skit with an impressive A-list cast.

The segments included Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, Eddie Redmayne, Billy Crystal, Lena Dunham, Simon Cowell, Katie Couric, Chelsea Handler, Allison Janney, Shia LaBeouf, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jay Leno.

“He’s a very funny guy and he’s an especially likeable guy. I think that’s sort of the key,” Leno told the BBC radio show Today. “I think the era of ironic snarkiness in over in America.”

Fans were worried how Corden’s British humor would translate with American audiences but critics say he "came off as charming and unexpectedly earnest."

Hopefully this time the host will finally stick.
