Joel McHale and CBS President Les Moonves just "happened" to go out together? Coincidence? We think not.

Do we believe in coincidence? Never.

So, when we see this tweet from Julie Chen—wife of Les Moonves, President of CBS—of her and her husband out on the town with Joel McHale, we cannot help but speculate as to why they were together:

Hey---it's Julie, Les, & Swollen Head! RT @JulieChen: Me & my hubby hanging with the hilarious Joel pic.twitter.com/S098pJ0q71

Sure, it could be just an innocent dinner, but come on. McHale just killed it at the White House Correspondents Dinner and had his schedule open up when Communitywas cancelled. Craig Ferguson happens to be leaving The Late Late Show, so Moonves is in the market for a new host.

Have the stars aligned here? McHale may be denying now, but if Moonves wants him you can bet CBS and NBC can work something out with the contract.

Stay tuned.

UPDATE: According to Norm Macdonald himself, McHale will be replacing Ferguson on the Late Late Show. More info as it's available, as always.

Congratulations to @joelmchale, the new host of the late, late show. The #latelatenormnorm should be extinguished, unseemly now. Thanks, tho
