A man in Florida committed suicide yesterday after killing his daughter and her six children, authorities say.

According to Fox Orlando, police were summoned to a Bell, Fla. home after receiving a 911 call around 4 p.m. The call came from 52-year-old Don Spirit, who Gilchrist County Sheriff Robert Schultz said warned that he may hurt himself and others:

Deputies had previously been called to this particular residence, the sheriff said, adding that it was Spirit who called a 911 dispatcher earlier in the evening to alert authorities that he might do harm to himself and others.

Fox Orlando adds that Spirit killed himself shortly after police arrived. During an investigation, authorities learned that he also killed his 28-year-old daughter, Sarah Sprit, and her six children. The children were said to be between the ages of 3 months and 11-years-old.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Spirit was sentenced to three years in jail for accidentally killing his 8-year-old son while hunting in 2001. The investigation into this tragedy is ongoing.
