Way back in May, we got our first glimpse at an exceedingly creepy Steve Carell in Foxcatcher, the latest film from acclaimed director Bennett Miller (Capote, Moneyball). The movie details the true story of John du Pont, a wealthy and disturbed man who builds a wrestling school at his home in the runup to the 1988 Summer Olympics.
Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo co-star as brothers Mark and Dave Schultz, two aspiring Olympians who train at du Pont’s home and develop a significant relationship with their coach. Without ruining anything about the plot of the movie, we’ll just say it doesn’t end well.
The movie is slated to be released in the heart of awards season this November, and is expected to earn significant Oscar buzz for pretty much everybody involved (especially Carell). The very intense first trailer is above.
