A project to recreate Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in high definition has new life this week as the groups Facebook page announced that it's restarting the long-dormant project.

The Sonic 2 HD project was started by fans of the Sega classic to upgrade the 8-bit and 16-bit platformer while keeping the original gameplay intact.

An early version of the game was released way back in 2012 but after losing its programmers went dormant. The project got a jump start when fans joined together to recreate a new game engine. The remade Sonic will be available on PC and Mac. Check out the Sonic 2 HD page on Facebook for more details.
