Gia Coppola makes her directorial debut and wrote the script for "Palo Alto," a coming-of-age story that explores the life of a shy girl, April[Emma Roberts], who gets caught in a whirlwind of teenage angst and lust.
The film is based off of James Franco's "Palo Alto" short story series, which is about teenagers who experience growing pains that deal with identity, experimentation and family problems.
The plot centers on April's affair with her much older soccer coach [James Franco] and her struggle to figure out her feelings for a student named Teddy[Jack Kilmer], a loner who is pretty lost in life himself.
"Palo Alto" will be released in select theaters on May 9th.
