Thanks to Warner Brothers chief Kevin Tsujihara, JK Rowling has decided to take her Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, to the big screen in the form of three mega-blockbuster films.

The book, originally the name of a Hogwarts textbook, was published in 2001. The plot follows the main character, Newt Scamander-- a magizoologist, who writes a guide to magical creatures. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set 70 years before Harry Potter and the gang ever step foot at Hogwarts.

The book is not a prequel to the Harry Potter series. It is just an extension of the elaborate "wizarding world" that Rowling has created and millions of readers have fallen in love with.

According to BBC News, Rowling told actress Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger, that she wrote the script in a mere 12 days.

"I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it," Rowling announced when she first spoke about the project back in September.

The films will be produced by none other than David Heyman, who produced the entire eight film Harry Potter series.
