Ubisoft may be planning to release two new Assassin's Creed games for 2014, reports Examiner. A source close to series' development reportedly said that the new AC games in question would span both console generations, with an exclusive title for last-gen (presumably cross-platform) as well as a separate series entry that would only be released for next-generation consoles.
While it may sound odd to saddle series fans with buying a game on an old console rather than simply cross-genning one the presumed last-gen exclusive as Ubisoft did with ACIV, the source also said the series is under a "massive re-scope," which, while long overdue, is not terribly specific.
Assassin's Creed IV was officially announced in February after pictures of promotional materials from Gamestop surfaced online. Ubisoft has released a new AC every year since 2009, so whether or not there actually are two new series titles on the way – which is one hundred percent not confirmed at the moment, so take the news as you will – we'll likely find out soon.
