Domain names and trademark filing often stir-up media speculation but the prospect of a film for one of the best games of last year is still reason for cautious excitment. Sony has filled domains for last year's critical success The Last of Us.

While this doesn’t mean a movie is in the works in itself, at least someone at Sony thinks it’s a possibility. The domains and were both registered on November 25 by Sony’s online brand protection agency MarkMonitor while the register’s email has a Sony Pictures address according to Domain Tools.

The Last of Us follows the story of a post-apocalyptic struggle against a pandemic and the nature of humanity where the one hope for a cure may not be enough.

While Sony might just be protecting its brand the prospect of Joel and Ellie making it to the big screen is exciting.
