Dirty minds have developed over the years to the point that filthy messages and nude images now hit inboxes on a daily basis. Historian Simon Garfield can attest to the fact that the dirty mind is certainly no new phenomenon. His book, To The Letter, chronicles acronyms and abbreviations used before and during World War ll and reveals that soldiers were quite fond of using code to let their women know how much they, um, missed them.

The acronyms ranged from tame (ITALY=I Trust And Love You) to explicitly direct (CHINA=Come Home I'm Naked Already; ENGLAND=Every Naked Girl Loves A Naked Dick). Straight, no chaser.

While this practice isn't quite as inviting (or direct) as receiving an unsolicited nude picture from your significant other, it was part of the foundation the game was built upon.
