Twitter Was Overrun With State of the Union Chatter Last Night

The State of the Union address went gangbusters on Twitter last night to the extent of 1.36 million posts. 

According to The Daily Dot which referenced Twitter, the biggest peaks came when President Barack Obama mentioned opportunities for the middle class and raising the minimum wage (24,000 tweets per minute, or TPM) and when he discussed gun violence victims and the need for tough legislation (around 23,700 TPM). His views on improving early childhood education drew the third most tweets at nearly 19,000 TPM

The GOP response delivered by Florida Senator Marco Rubio saw its peak in Twitter conversation when Rubio took an awkward sip of water. Check out his silly response:
