In addition to a smaller iPad, Apple will announce a smaller 13-inch version of its new flagship laptop, the MacBook Pro w/ Retina Display, at a special media event planned for October 23, 9-to-5 Mac reports.
The 13-inch MBP w/ Retina Display has been rumored for some time now and will compliment the 15-inch version that was announced in June. According to 9-to-5 Mac's "consistently reliable" source, the 13-inch version will come in two models with differing processor and storage specs. Price points haven't yet been announced, although a safe bet is between $1,199 and $2,199 for each computer.
The display of the 13-inch model is said to be a whopping 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. If Apple is able to make the device much thinner or lighter than its larger 15-inch cousin, the new Pro will match up quite favorably to the larger MacBook Air in size and portability, albeit at a higher price.
We'll have more on the 13-inch MacBook Pro w/ Retina Display as Oct. 23 approaches.
