Though it's not much of a surprise, Gawker is reporting that Michael J. Fox's new sitcom has been given a straight to series 22-episode pick up at NBC. Straight to series means that the network has not yet seen a pilot, but just heard the same details about the series as we previously have: It will be penned by Arrested Development and Cougartown's Sam Laybourne, produced by Easy A's Will Gluck, and is based loosely off of Fox's own life story. Fox will of course star, and his character is described as a father with an "illness."

It was last reported that the series had been shopped around to all major networks, but apparently NBC won out in the end by dishing out a "significant" amount of money for the show.

The series will be shot in New York City, and is slated for a fall premiere.
