Making funny videos, even as a normal person with nothing to lose, is hard. Making them as a big corporation while trying to sell as many widgets as possible? Well, you've seen the results. That could all change, though, with the announcement of a new resource for businesses from people who actually know a thing or two about making funny viral videos.
Funny Or Die revealed a new commercial division today called Gifted Youth, which it says will pair companies with the same writers, directors and freelancers who make the site's wildly popular videos.
The company already has a commercial on the air for the Kia Optima (that one with Jeff Goldblum and Blake Griffin where Goldblum plays a mad scientist) and is preparing to run another for New Era starring Nick Offerman from Parks and Recreation.
If it means more commercials will be funny like a Judd Apatow movie as opposed to funny like a singing household appliance, then hey, we're all for this.
