Less than 15 years after that buildings was completed, another group of masons, known as the Levelers, built their social house on West 73rd Street, in the shadow of the Ansonia.

Designed by the firm of Clinton Russell Wells George and Holton, the Level Club (253 West 73rd Street), as it is known today, incorporates numerous symbolic elements of freemasonry in its façade. The level, the beehive, the hexagram, and the square and compass are all visible, along with both the seal of the United States and the state of New York.
