After the surprising departure of Patty Jenkins as director of Thor 2, Marvel Studios was in scramble mode to hire someone quickly in order to meet the film's November 15, 2013 release date. While we suggested some high-quality visionaries to take over the kingdom of Asgard, Deadline is reporting that Marvel has decided to hire the less well-known Alan Taylor for the job.

Despite the fact that he only has three films to his credit, Taylor isn't a complete novice when it comes to fantasy genre; in fact, he directed two episodes of HBO's sword-and-shield epic, Game of Thrones, during the show's first season. Game of Thrones became famous for its deep stories, memorable characters, and visual scope; all of which are qualities that any Thor movie shouldn't be without. With a large Hollywood budget backing his vision, Taylor might wind up as an inspired choice for the studio.
