Psychonauts

Why We Praised It: Because Tim Schafer made it and we all love Tim Schafer

Why It Sucks: It amounts to a basic 3D platformer that albeit kooky and neat doesn't do much new gameplay-wise

Much like Earthworm Jim, Psychonauts was a title that stood out because it was ahead of the curve. With its introspective and witty narrative tacked on top of a genre refined through a decade of progression, it was easy to fall in love with. However, despite all the high praise it gets as a product of the brilliant Tim Schafer it’s still a pretty standard platformer that lacks the technical prowess of modern takes. Looking back, this isn’t even his best work; it couldn’t hold a candle to Grim Fandango or Full Throttle – both of which are still very enjoyable.
