Live Show Alert: Com Truise in DC Saturday (4/2) for Forward Fest

Not Tom Cruise. We would never encourage you to see him.

None

Seth Haley, aka Com Truise, is a producer from New York whose debut on Ghostly International, the Cyanide Sisters EP, has all the wobbly shimmer of last year’s chillwave craze, the stiff drum programming of 80s synth-pop, and the low-end thud of Detroit MPC bangers.

This is all familiar territory, of course, but Haley infuses his take on these genres with hooks that seem like they came from either an Italian horror flick or a John Hughes film. It’s creepy and nostalgic, comfortable coming either out of your trunk speakers or assaulting your senses on a dance floor. In many ways, these tracks are just begging for some MCs to take them to a higher level, but on their own they're still fantastic.

Truise plays as part of the five-day Forward Fest in DC. -Finn Cohen
