FFXIII wasn’t actually a bad game. It’s just that it was supposed to be, y'know, Final Fantasy: giant worlds, epic storylines, and memorable characters. Then we found ourselves spending most of the game running down a linear poop-chute littered with convoluted self-important plot points and RPG character-archetype husks. Granted, Final Fantasy X had been relatively linear as well, but it had an original enough story and characters to compensate. This one just didn't.
