Almost three months after being named chief curator to J Dilla‘s music catalogue, Frank Nitt (of Frank-N-Dank), alongside Delicious Vinyl, present this throwback single from the Yancey Boys, aka brothers J DIlla and Illa J, entitled “The Throwaway.” On a beat that Nitt says is probably “dates from the mid-’90s, just from the tempo and where Dilla was at creatively,” Illa and Nitt kicks some fast-paced bars over Dilla’s head-bopping funk (loving the bass on this one). Crazy to think that beats like this from Dilla’s archives are just waiting for fans to take a listen to. This single is already up on Amazon (with no release date), so keep your eyes peeled – and yes, the instrumental is going to be made available as well.
