Video: YellowStraps - "Flamingo"

Our first contact with YellowStraps was on the gorgeously gauzy “Pollen,” a track crafted in twenty-four hours with the help of producer Le Motel.

Newly released “Flamingo” is similarly enchanting, low-key, and earthy. YellowStraps singer Yvan Murenzi’s voice bears a sort of timeless quality–a stone’s throw away from Meshell Ndegeocello’s soulful croon–that elevates “Flamingo.”  Its a performance that reminds us of the pain within hope, the hurt that makes joy that much sweeter, as she intones the song’s simple, evocative chorus: “Don’t look behind/Just ease your mind/We don’t care what future holds.”

Take three minutes out of your day and get lost in “Flamingo.”
