A little under a year after we were initially introduced to Jaymes Young, his debut single “Dark Star” gets a suitably shadowy, symbol-laden video. It’s a fitting reflection of the mystique that surrounded the initially enigmatic Young’s breakthrough single, the singer’s face having been revealed after months of carefully cloaked information, here still draped in a darkness that reflects the moral ambiguity at the song’s core. “Dark Star” remains the crown jewel of Young’s nascent career, understandably getting the visual treatment even so many months down the line (then again, the video is a reminder that many songs take a multi-platform effort and time to truly penetrate a wider consciousness).
