Sydney in Theory - "chasing balloons"

None

As a follow up to raw, beautiful single “diamonds & dirt,” eclectic, experimental singer Sydney in Theory releases “chasing balloons,” a song more concerned with texture and catharsis through sounds than strict, traditional structure. It builds for four minutes, a haze of heavily affected vocals–occasionally muted, occasionally soaring–and swarming electronics, giving way to a soup of sounds that fades out slowly over the track’s final three minutes, shifting subtly as it moves towards its distorted, echoing end.

“chasing balloons” certainly won’t be for every listener (even those with adventurous palates might take a bit of warming up), but it’s another intriguing piece in what’s shaping up to be a most unusual project. Sydney in Theory’s album of the same name comes out on 10/22.
