The notion that a 15-year-old could have one approach, let alone multiple approaches to his style of production might sound borderline ludicrous, but it makes sense as a positive side effect of the continued proliferation of production technologies, tutorials, and easy release channels.
“Lantana” is not a particularly unfamiliar addition to the trap varietals populating dark reaches of Soundcloud, but it is MISOGI’s balance of enchanting, burbling melodies and drums that are heavy without being oppressive that point to make the new single enjoyable and point to his budding ability. Though it would likely be more satisfying with rapping or singing to accompany it, “Lantana” highlights a producer to watch in 2015 (and probably 2016, 2017, and 2018, as he continues to develop and achieves the vaunted ability to legally drive).
