GIANTS (the duo of songwriter Ben Burrows and producer Rich Cooper) create within the ever-expanding bounds of the pop music landscape, crafting music that pulls from various wells of inspiration without being indebted to any one in particular. Their third single “Throwback”—a collaboration with British singer (and frequent Cooper collaborator) Josef Salvat—adheres to familiar structure, pulsing with tasteful electronics and a purposeful pace. “Throwback” pays off two thirds of the way through when the duo smartly opens up the production and allows Salvat to unleash the sultry higher end of his range.
