For his second original release, British singer/guitarist astronomyy keeps things decidedly mellow on “Things I’d Do For U.” With its romantic vision of an escape to paradise set against what’s fast becoming astronomyy’s signature combination of sparse, echoey guitar work and punchy drums descended directly from southern hip-hop, “Things I’d Do For U” is an enjoyable follow up to “Don’t Need U,” not necessarily expanding the formula, but showing that there’s plenty of mileage in it. Particularly for songs of love and dreams, astronomyy’s production and vocals provide the perfect vessel. Enchanting and summery, “Things” feels like a perfect beach breeze on a too-hot day. Give it a listen below.
