What happened to Charles Hamilton?

It's a complicated question, and the focus of a new Red Bull TV documentary about the Harlem rapper. In the late 2000s Charles Hamilton was a blog favorite and rising quickly, gaining attention from major labels and critics and seemingly on the path to mainstream success. In the following years things spun out of control, and in 2015 Hamilton revealed that he had been dealing with bipolar disorder and suicidal thoughts.

Faultlines is a Fred Scott-directed documentary shot over the course of a year that shows what's been going on with Charles Hamilton as he attempts to bounce back and reconnect through music.

"It was so important for me to share my story right now,” says Hamilton. “I'm grateful to my family for intervening because I didn't want help. I just wanted to create in my room in the dark. I have a newfound passion in advocating for artists, young people and other men of color that may be unsure of beginning the process toward wellness. I want to make an impact in this world, whether that's through my music or my life's story."

Faultlines will premiere on December 2nd on Red Bull TV. Watch the trailer here.
