Bohan Phoenix's name has been swirling around music for some time—he's already selling out shows in his native China, and his collaborations with Higher Brothers have put Phoenix on the shortlist of international artists due to break big in America.
He'll get a lot closer after today: "OVERSEAS" is a Ryan Hemsworth-produced, multilingual statement of purpose. The Chengdu-raised artist also put together a multi-angle interactive video for the occasion, which you can experience from all four angles on his website (a helpful tutorial is here). We join Bohan in a dark, spotlit space, a piano his only companion. He switches between languages to tell his story, detailing the struggles of appealing to two different cultures as one artist.
