Though M83 often gets incorrectly viewed as the solo project of Anthony Gonzalez, it’s by and large a group effort—especially on tour. One of the crucial components of M83’s larger-than-life synth-rock sound comes from back-up vocalist and keyboard player Morgan Kibby. And now Kibby’s branching out on her own with a debut solo album called In Cold Blood under the moniker White Sea. Yesterday, she released the project’s first single the seething “Prague,” a bone crushing slice of synth heaven. It pushes Kibby’s strong vocals into the limelight and aligns her sound with a theatrical Bat for Lashes feel.
