Video Premiere: Star. One ft. Trim & Thabo - "No Way"

Premiere: Watch the video for UK production duo Star. One's "No Way," which features Trim and Thabo.

While they’re auto-tuning, I’m teaching my lyrics how to be elusive / Trim, the MC you couldn’t get confused with.

Often, the way rappers identify themselves is wildly different from how we, the listeners, think of them. They claim they’re the king of this, bringing back that, selling however many kilos of coke, the illest in the business, and the list goes on. Trim, however, with the line above, summarizes himself incredibly accurately.

Listen to the UK rapper and grime veteran for a bit, and you realize that his off-kilter flow and reference-filled wordplay (he’s as likely to reference Harry Potter as he is Iraq) is like nothing else out there. He’s not reaching for commercial success, and he’ll never compromise his sound, and artists like that should always be celebrated.

Today we’re happy to premiere UK production duo Star. One’s “No Way,” which features vocals from Trim and a soulful hook from Thabo. The beat pulses with a raw energy and is bursting with the influences of UK dance music, with lots of bass and some jungle madness towards the end. “No Way” is the first track from Star. One’s forthcoming EP Elements, check out the moody black and white video above.
