Premiere: Niia x The Range - "David's House"

None

Niia has had an interesting career so far, with her vocals featured on Wyclef Jean’s “Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)” in 2007 and in commercials for big brands like Subway, before a stint as an experimental jazz singer in New York. Finally, though, she is stepping forward into the limelight as an artist in her own right, with her debut EP Generation Blue (watch the video for the title track here) scheduled for release on October 28. The whole EP is a collaboration with Robin Hannibal of Rhye, and his deft, subtle production suits Niia’s warm, a little soulful, but never overbearing vocals.

The original “David’s House” is an organic feeling disco track, but The Range’s new version ups the electronic elements, creating a version that could be played in a dark club accompanied by smoke and strobes and sweaty people doing exactly what the looped outro vocals say.

“Lose control, lose control, lose control…”
