Halflife is a new collaboration between Distance, a pioneering dubstep producer, and Riz MC, who recently released an EP with Heems as Swetshop Boys and, under his given name Riz Ahmed, appeared in Nightcrawler alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. The two creatives are now focussing on their Halflife project, and, with an album in the works, we’ll be sure to hear much more from them in 2015.
“Subtle” is the debut track from Halflife, and it’s a mournful, genre-defying beauty that has us excited for what’s next. The subtly powerful production, soaring hook, and personal lyrics are combined masterfully—two artists from different worlds totally in sync. Check out the premiere of the video for “Subtle” above.
