We all know Nicolas Jaar is a brilliant artist in his own right, but his excellent taste as a curator is made clear with each release on his subscription based label Other People. The latest track is a collaboration with Chicago ghetto house and juke legend DJ Slugo, who speaks poignant words about his life and what he’s seen in the streets over Jaar’s lush, slowly shifting beat.
Although the subjects Slugo talks about are overwhelmingly negative, the song ends on a hopeful note as he says “I am now hope.” Listen to the brilliant, powerful track below, along with a message from the artists.
