Fryars new album will not be coming out until early 2014, but that doesn’t mean there’s no new music on the way from the talented 22 year old, who will be releasing the six-track Radio Pwr EP on October 21. There continue to be clear 80s touchstones in Fryars’ new music, but framed by a modern pop aesthetic, one that is as likely to reference internet culture as California’s sequoia trees. All of Fryars’ music, even the less accessible songs, are based around strong songwriting and vibrant melodies, and “The Power” is one of his catchiest yet, even with its faint air of nostalgia-tinged sadness.
