Blaenavon are a British trio, all aged between 16 and 17, who’s forthcoming release of “Into The Night” backed with “Denim Patches” sounds like the work of a much more experienced band. Recently signed to Transgressive, there are hints of new label mates Foals in the guitar work and percussion, while the overall sound is accessible and without ever becoming formulaic. “Into The Night” pulsates with youthful energy and is the most immediate of the two tracks, but “Denim Patches” is arguably the more impressive, proving that even when things are slowed down and scaled back, Blaenavon’s mature songwriting still shines through.
