An Update on Pete Doherty and The Libertines

None

Back at the tail end of 2012, we wondered, “What’s going on with Pete Doherty?

Well, at that point he had moved to Paris to get clean but was still using heroin (although he had started to appreciate the value of living healthy) and had been in his first film. Since then, Pete has been busy. He released an album with Babyshambles in September 2013 and then, against all odds,  The Libertines—the band in which he made his name, became a star, and then split up with due to personal differences and drug problems—reformed for some big headlining shows in Europe.

Fans wondered if this reunion was purely for money and whether the band would make any new music together. Now, those questions have been answered. Today, The Libertines announced that they had signed a deal with Virgin EMI and hope to release a new album next year. They signed the contract in Thailand, where Pete is in rehab—see pictures above.

“I don’t know what to say, I’m so happy,” said Pete in a press release, and do you know what? We are too. Good luck getting clean Pete, we’re looking forward to hearing what The Libertines 2.0 sounds like.
