Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never has been gearing up to release his latest album, Garden of Delete, in some pretty interesting ways. Due November 13 on Warp Records, the album was initially announced through an interview with an alien on a fan-blog for the fictional band, Kaoss Edge. Since then, Lopatin has been playing an obtuse ARG of some kind, leading fans to discover a website that includes music from Kaoss Edge.

Inspired by his recent tour with Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden, the record adopts a “hypergrunge” aesthetic which is said to have originated from Kaoss Edge. After all the weird information, teasers, and midi files, we’ve finally got our first taste of the album, and it’s just as insane as the ARG would imply. “I Bite Through It” is I Bite Through It” is fidgety, intense, and hard to follow. Named just like a Nine Inch Nails track itself, the song scuffles about until it slowly deconstruct itself in its final moments.

It’s just as conceptually strange as his last record, R Plus 7, but it’s somehow more accessible. Closer to “traditional” music than most of what was found on his last album, “I Bite Through It” offers an exciting glimpse of what’s to come from Garden of Delete.  Listen below, and check out the almost nu-metal like track from the fictional band Kaoss Edge below that.
