Chance The Rapper's "Waves" sure sounds great mixed with the album version.

Kanye West’s seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo, has a very well-documented and confusing history. Behind all the changes, late arrivals on other streaming services, and the addition of new songs, there’s an interesting story to be told. But the song with perhaps the most interesting history on the album, outside of “Wolves,” is “Waves,” which features a ridiculous amount of writing and producing credits.

Chance The Rapper originally previewed his version of song on Snapchat, before playing a bit more of it for Zane Lowe during a lengthy interview. While we’ll probably never hear Chance’s version of the track in full, it was nice to hear a longer preview of what could have been. Thankfully, someone from Hip-Hop Heads has used the a low quality rip from the Zane Lowe interview to craft a full version of the track, blending it with the Chris Brown-featuring version that appeared on The Life of Pablo.

Offering the track up as a download (for copyright reasons), the mix can be downloaded here. Even though it ends abruptly, it’s a really solid rework that makes a brilliant case for Kanye and Chance to release the original “Waves” in full. Past the introductory part featuring the rip from the interview, things get really interesting.

Download the rework here.
