BLVCSVND

There's countless producers on SoundCloud, and the list grows day by day. Blvc Svnd has quickly become a cult favorite for good reason, though, having produced for a number of rising stars. This is likely down to his unique approach, combining overblown, hard-as-hell percussion with floaty synths and samples. On tracks like Night Lovell's"Boy Red," he employs a hypnotic loop that provides the perfect backdrop to the apocalyptic thuds and Lovell's precisely delivered raps.

Determined to be known as more than "just a SoundCloud producer," Blvc Svnd has expanded his artistic repertoire to include rapping. After toying with it for a while, most notably on his 223 project, Blvc Svnd has committed to becoming a full-blown artist. With DIVO, Blvc Svnd has released his first proper rap release, and for as scruffy as it is, it shows a lot of promise.

He's not going to become the next big rapper to make it through SoundCloud, but he is capable of building himself a loyal following thanks to his unique, overblown approach to rap music. DIVO is an inconsistent effort, but it's also one of the most unique things you'll come across on SoundCloud. Inspired by metal and '80s synths, Blvc Svnd has the makings of an internet legend.

Could you tell me a little bit about yourself?

I was born in 1998. I'm from Los Angeles, California.

Your production is characterized by overblown percussion and floaty synth sounds or hypnotic samples. How did you reach this very particular sound that stands out in such a crowded landscape on SoundCloud?

I've always been really fascinated by music from the '80s because of the synths and loud snares. My biggest influence that got me into producing is Lex Luger, so I always put loud drums in my stuff.

How did you build your relationship with the artists you work with frequently?

Well a lot of the artists I work with I've known for a long time, such as Night Lovell. That or I just like their music and slide in their dms lmao.

What do you think it was that had you start rapping over your production?

I was tired of just being named a producer, so I was like, "Fuck it I'ma start rapping cuz all these rap niggas are trash and imagine if I was a raw ass rapper and producer."

You seem to be quite inspired by a gothic and almost metal sound. Do you draw from metal and other genres as much as you do rap music?

Oh yes definitely. Before I was listening to hip-hop I was listening to Iron Maiden, Rage Against the Machine, and Metallica. But more recently I've gotten into more heavy stuff such as Death, Bathory, and 1349 so I've tried to put that energy and message into my own music.

Do you plan to continue releasing projects as a rapper now as well as a producer? And if so, do you see yourself working with other producers in the future?

I plan on doing both. My passion for rapping and producing are pretty much the same, so I'ma just keep going. And yeah, I'm down to work with producers but I don't wanna make fake plug beats, fake Mr. Carmack sounding shit. I wanna make something original and from my heart, not shit for attention.

Can we expect any exciting collaborations in the near future?

Yeah I did some on Lonny X's upcoming project, so that'll be exciting. I'm working with more new people, sooooo if you're an artist that's on they own shit dm me.
