“Rapture” won’t land on a tape or LP, but don’t think this means the single from gifted utility man GDNA and Chicago rapper Frank Leone is destined for online obscurity. The two asked for a little help from their friends and the summery song benefits: Donnie Trumpet warmly laces the tropical guitar and shakers with his namesake, and fellow Chi artist Akenya sings of liberating love in a tone sweet enough to melt hearts.

With its live instrumentation and the fluidity among those who had a hand in its creation, “Rapture” wouldn’t sound out of place on the Donnie-led Social Experiment album, Surf. The track is designed for sand dune exploration and first-date merriment.

“GDNA made the song, sent it to me, and I did my part then sent it to Nico [Donnie]. He met GDNA in LA and recorded it,” Leone told us of the song’s creation. “But by the time that happened it was Fall and we needed to drop it in the summer so we kind of stored it, then we were talking about it earlier this year and sent it to Akenya. She heard it for the first time and wrote, harmonized, and recorded her shit within an hour of sending it to her. Thus it was lit.” Indeed.

Catch Leone, GDNA, and others at Frank’s EnterWILD Live concert if you expect to find yourself in Chicago on July 2nd; you can purchase tickets to the show here. Regardless of your whereabouts, introduce some new heat to your summer soundtrack and stream “Rapture” below.
