Nine months have come and gone since we last heard from Litany, a tandem comprised of British talents Jake Nicolaides and Beth Cornell. The pair reemerge today with the release of their piano-laden, woozy single, “Woman,” enlisting the help of talented vocalist Appleby to complement Beth’s soft tones.
What begins as the pensive bobbing of vocals gradually becomes a slow-jam ballad. Beth’s tender singing floats above the surface of the beat, leading the way for Appleby to croon backing melodies and a verse of his own over comparably stripped-down production. Preferring ignorance rather than pain, he asks, “If you don’t love me, don’t tell me that.”
