Swedish singer Seinabo Sey blew up with her soulful take on pop music, but it was her voice that stood out from the very beginning. Her debut album came out in 2015 and her sophomore effort is on the way, but before that, we get something a little different from Seinabo.
On "Keep On Lovin'," she teams up with MagnusTheMagnus, who presents her voice in a new context, chopping and pitch-shifting it over pounding production. Magnus and Seinabo are frequent collaborators—he produced her debut album Pretend—and their winning creative partnership continues here.
"The track is a blend of a couple different ideas I had laying around, putting one thing on top of the other just to see what would happen," Magnus explains. "When I was happy with it I played it to Seinabo and asked her if she would improvise something over it. I knew I wanted some sort of vocal but not exactly what. Since we had more pressing things to work on I didn’t wanna spend too much time on it, so we did that for maybe 15 minutes and I pieced together what’s on there. It’s a playful process with no preconceived idea of what the end result is going to be. That pretty much sums up what this whole project is to me, come to think of it. It could go anywhere really, and it most likely will."
