The original version of Shabazz Palaces’ track “#CAKE” is already funky on its own but this remix by Animal Collective has brought it to another level. The once dance-worthy song is now broken down into something that could put you into a trance if you let. The prominent drums of the original have been replaced with synthesized chords, additional vocals and frequent claps.
This rework layers various vocals as well as exotic sounds to create a hypnotic beat that almost sounds like a completely different song. The accompanying artwork done by Christian Peterson is equally as mesmerizing as the mix itself.
